Silk to close down for good at the end of the month

Gone too soon

One of Edinburgh’s most popular student nightclubs, Silk, is scheduled to close down this month as part of the transformation of King’s Stable Road into new student accommodation.

Despite previous plans to remain open until November 2019, Silk announced on their Facebook page that they’re set to close their doors for good on January 27th.

The post thanked people for coming to the venue over the past 21 years and called for authorities to appreciate the importance clubs like Silk have in boosting Edinburgh’s overall appeal to young people.

If you’re feeling down about the news, you’ll be glad to know that there will be nine more nights at Silk before it officially closes at the end of the month.

The club will be open as usual every Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the rest of the month, so you still have an opportunity to say goodbye to one of the city’s favourite clubs in style.
