Exclusive: Justin Trudeau to receive an honorary degree from Edinburgh today

Yas RanaCanadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will receive an honorary degree at a graduation ceremony this morning in McEwan Hall. Last night the Tab learnt that he would be appearing at the School of Social and Political Science graduation ceremony, but this morning the Uni’s Press Office confirmed that he’s attending so that he can receive his honorary degree.
The Press Office could not confirm what the honorary degree is for, but a Tweet from Canadian reporter David Akin suggests that it will be for his “advocacy for equality and diversity.”
Social Bite co-founder Josh Littlejohn and political scientist Professor Yvonne Galligan will also receive honorary degrees.
Trudeau, who is also in Edinburgh for a meeting with the Queen, joins the likes of Katherine Grainger, Annie Lennox and Gordon Brown as recent recipients of honorary degrees from Edinburgh.
I wonder if we’ll see our boy Justin hitting up Prow come September.
