Edinburgh BNOC of the Year: Round 1

Tbh they’re all BNOCs in their own right

Roll up roll up ladies and gents, it’s that time of the year again. This year we’ve got four outstanding contenders to kick off the competition – who deserves the BNOC crown the most?

Tommy Le, Second Year, Medicine

Probably the only student in Edinburgh who can easily pay for Edinburgh rents with his own money. In September Tommy took part in and won a 184 person poker tournament bringing home an astronomical £25,000. Drinks on Tommy then. The second year Medicine student is a regular at local casinos after nights out, more often of than not winning some serious money.

Khalil Baoku, First Year, Mechanical Engineering

With a smile like that that it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Khalil’s Facebook profile picture has a whopping 425 likes and counting. Any tips? I think we’d all like to know.

Khalil is your classic Pollock BNOC, not able to walk ten metres without being stopped by someone. He’s also an absolute gent on nights out, helping those who might have had a bit too much to drink. Is there anything he can’t do?

Caolan Duffy, Second Year, Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt

Caolan’s on the left

Already a certified BNOC after being crowned BNOC on the Overheard at Heriot-Watt Facebook page, he’s probably one of the best known people around Heriot-Watt. He’s captain of the Heriot-Watt Under-20 football team, runs Thursday nights at Movement and plays the banjo at what used to be Malones. Pretty impressive.

Victoria Laila Neill, First Year, Chemical Engineering

Scandinavian, PR queen for Creme Soda and Rascals and socialite (she’s got well over 2000 friends on Facebook). She’s also one of the social secretaries for Chemical Engineering society and a big part of the Basketball club. How does she have time for all this?
