A body has been found today in Holyrood Park, in an area near where missing Edinburgh College student, Antoine Maury, was last seen. This afternoon his mother, Laura Maury, confirmed on a Facebook post that the recovered body is her son’s.

She said: “For all of you out there and particularly to all of Antoine’s, older and more previous friends.

“My beloved sons body was recovered in the Dudingston Loch earlier this morning. Antoine would had turned 22 on the 31st of December this year. Thank you all for your help and support during the last 5 and 1/2 weeks. God bless you all.”

Police have cordoned off the area around Duddingston Loch in Holyrood Park today after a body was found. There has been an ongoing search for Maury since his disappearance on the 24th October.

Maury was at a party at Milton Road when he suddenly left at 10:30 pm and was reportedly seen around the Duddingston Village area at around 11pm. His hat, jumper, jacket, and phone were found near Holyrood high school a few days after his disappearance.

The search for the student has been extensive, with multiple police appeals, Facebook appeals and calls for information from his family, which has received huge public support. Multiple specialist search parties have been involved including police dogs, Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue, Borders Search and Rescue, and even the Police Scotland Marine unit, however it was a member of the public that made the discovery of the body today at 10:30 am.

All thoughts go out to his family and friends in this hard time.
