We asked people if they actually care about the Rugby varsity match
It’s the one that isn’t the World Cup
In less than a week, Edinburgh University and St. Andrews’s rugby teams (mens and womens) will be fighting for glory in a highly anticipated match on Murrayfield pitch.
But it seems like most students couldn’t care less.
Ania, postgraduate medical biotechnology student
“I hadn’t heard of it”
Gosia, postgraduate medical biotechnology student
“I’m not going.”
Tom, first year, Italian and Business
“Yeah, I’ve heard of it. I’m definitely going.”
Atticus Hood, first year, Philosophy
“We’ve all heard of it, we’re all going together.”
Katie Black, first year, Architecture
“I’ve heard of it, but I don’t want to go. My boyfriend would kill me because he loves Rugby, but he’s in London so he can’t force me to go.”
Young Min, first year, Law and Anthropology
“I hadn’t heard of it until this morning when our RA held a meeting about it. It must be a big deal because people were cheering and whooping. Apparently there’s going to be face paint… but even so I’m not sure if I’ll go.”
Niall Macrae, first year, biological sciences
“I heard of it, and I guess I care who wins. If I’m free and there are still tickets I suppose I’ll go, but I’m generally not that bothered.”
