‘It’s the worst queue I’ve ever seen in my life’: Chaos outside Big Cheese

‘I don’t get traumatised easily but that was awful, I had tears in my eyes’

The Big Cheese has come under criticism for their handling of the queue last night.

Apparently for safety reasons, the doors had to be shut to prevent clubbers from entering.

There was a massive surge of people waiting to get inside, stretching back at least until McEwan Hall.

At the front door, bouncers had to form a human wall to prevent the stream of students from entering and no one was allowed to exit at the same time.

Some were visibly in tears.

Katie, a fresher lawyer, was caught in the thick of it.

She said: “It’s the worst queue I’ve ever seen in my life.

“I was clothes-lined by bouncers and I couldn’t breathe at points, the bouncers were only concerned with keeping people out.

“I don’t get traumatised easily but that was awful, I had tears in my eyes.

“It was dangerous.”

The Big Cheese’s post

The Big Cheese posted on Facebook: “Last night, we had an issue with disorder in our queue.

“As your safety is of the utmost importance to us, we had to close the doors to the Big Cheese for a short time, so we could reset the queue and ensure that we could maintain everyone’s safety. Fortunately, the issue was resolved.

“Sorry to anyone who was not involved in the disruption but was caught up in it.”
