FreshAir victorious at Student Radio Awards

It’s not as irrelevant as we thought

Edinburgh swept the board at the Student Radio Awards last week, claiming four awards.

FreshAir won two Golds and a Silver, with presenter Calum MacDonald winning the Best Male award.

The Student Radio Awards were hosted by Radio 1 and Global, and it was Radio 1 DJs Greg James and Alice Devine that presented Calum with his award.

According to Greg James, who also judged the contest, Calum was the “clear winner” thanks to his authoritative style, his voice, and the fact that he was so tuned in to what was going on around campus.

Calum also collected FreshAir’s Gold award for Best Live Event or Outside Broadcast, for their EdQT programme, broadcast during the EUSA elections.

FreshAir’s news team also took home Silver from the same category, with their White Paper Publication Day broadcast.

And if you want to hear Calum’s dulcet tones alongside Greg James’, here you go:

And for those interested in Scottish student radio, the awards were about damn time.
