“Talk dirty to me”

It’s World Toilet Day everyone, so do some dirty talking.

Today is the first World Toilet Day to be officially recognised by the United Nations and Edinburgh University’s Water Aid are talking dirty outside the library to raise awareness.

Lynne Wham and Alice Owen from Water Aid doing some squatting practice.

For those of you who don’t know about WTD, here are the facts:

  • Did you know that 2.5 billion people worldwide don’t have a toilet? That’s 1 in 3 who don’t have anywhere to proper to “powder one’s nose”.
  • 700, 000 children die every year from diarrhoea caused by poor sanition and dirty water. That’s 2,000 a day 🙁

  • More people in the world have a mobile phone than a toilet.
  • Nearly half a million young adults (that’s us) in the UK, according to a survey, have taken a ‘toilet selfie’. Tolfie anyone?

Alice Owen of Edinburgh’s Water Aid society urges those to support this cause through raising awareness and understanding of this cause.

She claims that this is something “nobody is talking about” so they’ve brought their campaign “Talk Dirty to Me” to George Square.

Water Aid take their campaign to George Square and urge student to “give a shit”

So please give a shit, and support World Toilet Day. WaterAid Edinburgh is also having a pub quiz tonight.

And watch the Word Toilet Day video sung be the fabulous Louie the Loo.
