Get Ready for Jam City

More music than you can shake a stick at

| UPDATED

The forces behind Arc and Fever have joined together to create a new night that promises to be completely different to anything that Durham has ever seen.

The collaboration came about as a result of the two groups wanting to create something on an even bigger scale, which is why this Friday will see Loft and Studio being transformed into a thriving music metropolis.

The boys have already put on 5 sell-out events between them, and the partnership has opened up many new possibilities in terms of set design, decoration and artist bookings, meaning this event is going to be a big one.

The main draw of the night is the three separate rooms which will be decorated to create the three very different vibes of Jam City, appealing to lovers of all kinds of music.

Frequenters of Nova might think they’ve seen it all before, but Jam City focuses on variety rather than quantity, boasting three rooms with completely different music tastes rather than one overriding genre.

Big City Lights will be taking up residence in Loft, where Felon will be blasting out house and techno tunes to get you into the party zone.

A 24-foot skyline will adorn the walls to transform it into the skyscraper paradise of the Big City for a fully immersive clubbing experience.

Across the stairs, Downtown will be playing plenty of light-hearted disco and funk music for those who need some chill time during the night, or just love to funk.

The Palatinalps Launch Party are taking over Downtown, and they’re bringing with them DJ Hiphoppapotamus, who has been bringing the party to thousands at the last two ski trips.

The third room is being taken over by a Jam City resident DJ who has pledged support for Kanye to run in 2020.

The room will have a combination of hip hop and R&B, mixing old with new and providing the perfect soundtrack for you to indulge your guilty pleasures.

If the ultimate R&B playlist wasn’t enough of a draw, the Ghetto will also be flooded with fistfuls of (fake) dollar bills, so you can live out the music video of your dreams and MAKE IT RAIN.

This will definitely be the M.A.A.D part of the city.

The extensive variety of music on offer means that Jam City will appeal to a much wider range of people than other Durham events, and with so many genres on offer it will be impossible to get bored.

As a fully student-run team, Arc focus on making nights purely for student enjoyment rather than commercial profit, which is why they’ll be spending plenty to make sure Friday night is out of this city.

The past year has given Arc and Fever plenty of time to perfect their trade, and they have spent a lot of time this summer planning their events and learning how important the creative side of things is in order to produce an event that people will remember.

Jam City promises to be a night like no other, so get your wristbands now before you miss out on the chance to say you were there.
