A young woman was knocked down on Church Street by a car, holding up a funeral procession in the process.

The victim was “able to walk away, limping and slightly dazed”.

The woman, who was “definitely a student” was crossing the road when a Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop at the pedestrian crossing.

The funeral procession was coming the other way, but both lanes had to be closed.

An ambulance attended to the woman at the scene but she was able to walk away safely.

The Corsa, on the other hand, came off less well, suffering a severe dent.

‘Up on her feet’

The student received medical attention at the scene

Third year eyewitness Lorcan Treacy told The Tab: “Essentially a Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop at a zebra crossing as the girl crossed late.

“There was big dent in the car, and it held up a three-car funeral procession for 15 minutes.

“An ambulance came but in the end the victim was able to walk away, limping and slightly dazed”
