Durham has one of the top 90 reputations in the world, according to the Times Higher Education world reputation rankings.

The list, which isn’t ranked past the first 50 universities, puts Durham in the category of 81st-90th place.

It groups us with the Universities of Queensland, Copenhagen and Helsinki as well as the University of Warwick.

Beating Durham into the top 50 were Cambridge and Oxford (who came second and third respectively), a number of the constituent colleges of the University of London, and Manchester.

The site makes specific reference to the fact we have a castle. Do Manchester? No

According to the THE website the list is ranked on “overall measure of their esteem that combines data on their reputation for research and teaching.”
