TabInterview: FEVER

‘Fever’ is an exciting new night debuting on Friday. Lorcan Treacy sat down with founders Will, Josh and George to find out what it’s all about and why you need to be there.

There’s a lot of hype so far about your night and we love the look of your Facebook page. What can people expect from your debut on Friday?

Think Miami Beach, 80s euphoria, neon and smoke – with a modern twist. That’s Fever.

We’ve seen some funk enter our lives and having seen the success of other alternative nights, we felt it would only be rude not to join in and attempt to further satisfy Durham’s insatiable appetite to groove.

Fever’s bringing the London roof terrace and Miami Beach vibe to the North East to resurrect that dance freak within you all.

Fever…promises to be smoking hot.

Sounds great but umm…what is future disco?

Future Disco has been playing musical snakes and ladders for a couple of years now, it takes the best elements of the old school classics and adds a modern electronic element.

The songs are packed full of pop style synths and soulful vocals, molded together carefully with groovy bass lines, claps and kicks- it’s the ultimate dance floor vibe.

From old school disco to Fever…

Everyone loves a story, so tell us what inspired you to start the night?

We went to this awesome night in London called Krankbrother set up by two brothers who run these all day parties in amazing locations like London roof terraces and warehouses to yachts in Ibiza and beaches in Miami.

The music they play varies all evening but it fits the crowd and it fits the time so that each night has a progression like a storyline – that’s what we want Fever to bring to Durham.

It just seems like such an obvious recipe for a good night. That’s when we got together and decided we’d have a go at making it happen – and here we are.

Here they are. Two of the founders, Will Donnelly (left) and Josh Barrow (right), bringing Miami2Durham.

Sounds promising but it takes more than a good idea to break into Durham nightlife – what do you think of your chances?

The introduction of new nights over the last year has shown everyone that Durham students want more and more from their nightlife, we’re here to give them that.

Free entry to Fabio’s – that’s very generous of you…why?

We are incredibly excited to hold the night in Fabio’s and we’ve decided to show just how excited we are by making it a free party. Although any sizeable donations will of course be welcomed – cash or cheque.

Will, I know from experience that you can throw some serious shapes. Will Durham’s ladies be lucky enough to see you grace the d-floor?

Does Pamela Anderson sleep on her back?

Well played sir. Cheers boys, best of luck with the night!

Well, there you go ladies…and gents. For those of you keen to find out more about Fever and their first night this Friday, find out more on their Facebook page.
