Spot the Difference: HMP Collingwood

Last week, yet another prisoner escaped from HMP Durham on Old Elvet – we think it’s about time someone found more suitable home for Durham’s convicts.

Last week, yet another prisoner escaped from HMP Durham which got the Tab thinking. Maybe Her Majesty’s Prison Service should keep their inmates in a newer and less appealing facility, somewhere like…Collingwood – we can’t tell the difference, can you?

Collingwood’s rooms would serve as ideal cells, small and sparingly furnished. Wait, which one is which again?

Its architecture fits the bill  too – ugly, bare, utilitarian…ugly.

The dining facilities aren’t quite up to modern prison standards, but if students can stomach them we reckon they’ll do for a pack of common thieves.

Prisoners will feel right at home in an uncannily familiar laundry room.

And to top it all off, Collingwood already has its very own iconic tarmac prison courtyard – as far as we can see, all it’s missing is the prisoners.
