Anticipation mounts ahead of the second Hill-Bailey football clash

| UPDATED

On Thursday evening, the commoners of the Hill will take on the aristocrats of the Bailey in the second-ever Hill vs. Bailey charity football game.

After a 4-2 victory for the Hill colleges last year in the inaugural fixture, the lads from the Bailey will be looking to even things up.

The Hill team will consist of the college A team captains and one other selected player each from Collingwood, Grey, Jo Butler, Van Mildert, Trevs, Mary’s and Aidan’s.

The Bailey team will feature players from Cuth’s, Castle, Hatfield, John’s and then, on this occasion, the three honorary Bailey colleges of Stephenson, John Snow and Hild Bede.

The event is run by Durham University Association Football Club (DUAFC) in conjunction with Durham Universities Charities Kommittee (DUCK).

Tickets cost £3 and can be purchased from any squad member of DUAFC, any college football A team captain or anyone participating in the game. Alternatively, you can pay on the door.

It will be on the 3G Rubber Crumb pitch at Maiden Castle, with doors opening at 18:00 for a 18:30 kick off.

Hill Players to Watch:

1. Ed Tunnacliffe, Grey – Self proclaimed ‘best footballer Grey College has ever seen’. Missed the decisive penalty in the final of the Knockout Cup last year. Hill fans will be hoping he can keep his bottle should Thursdays match come down to the lottery of a penalty shoot-out.

2. Henry Chadwick, Mary’s – Fresher who is playing like a veteran, terrorising defences with his pace, skill and finishing qualities. Top scorer in the premiership with 9 goals in his last 3 games. He even almost pulled off the ‘Zlatan’ in his most recent match but was denied by a superb save.

3. Dom Williams, Jo Butler – Likens his footballing ability to AC Milan’s ‘Pirlo’. However, he is regularly seen buying girls cardigans from Topshop in order to accompany his disgusting, white matted sheep hair.

Hill Captain and Giant, Tom Haley’s Prediction:

“We’ve got another strong squad this year and anything less than a second consecutive win isn’t really good enough for us. We are all expecting to put a few goals past the Bailey boys. Put it this way, if we don’t win, I’ll be doing a yard in Collingwood bar on Thursday night”
