Winter Boots

ELLA GOULD’s range of winter footwear threaten to put the boot into your student loan

And so the weather turns cold and the Fashionista’s quest for the perfect pair(s) of winter boots is well under way. Practical questions have been asked; does she opt for flats or a heel? Chelsea boots or biker? Black or this season’s maroon? Acne or Miu Miu?

Such eternal options cause Fashionista much distress, many hours perusing the pages of style.com and net-a-porter (does anybody wait for magazines anymore?) have awoken her already acute fashion senses to the vast smorgasbord of options available. But what has caught the eye behind that electric blue mascara? (Yes, Fashionista is all about rocking this season’s trends from head to toe).

The sparkling glitter heels of Miu Miu’s Chelsea boots, the forever popular pistol ankle boots from Acne (which are still sold out) have all of us aspiring youngsters on a student loan going weak at the knees. Fashionista added them to her shopping cart weeks ago for safe keeping and there is a discarded net-a-porter box with them in somewhere in her walk in.

For me however, one designer seems to have won shoe of the season yet again and Fashionista will be making sure everyone knows she has a pair. Isabel Marant did it last autumn when her platform trainers hit our radar in Beyonce’s ‘Love on top’ video. They have been copied endlessy (some more successfully than others) by Hakei, Topshop and beyond and are still sold out online.

This autumn she’s captured Fashionista’s eye with her gorgeous embroidered high heeled boots (which match her must have chemise of course.) and her double-tone pointy wedged boots, with or without the fringing or why not go for both. Fashionista note to self: add ALL to basket.

Our dilemma is a lot more straightforward however and more of less consists of how much we are willing to part with for some tasty footwear? Lucky for us, high street retailers have been hot on Marant’s tail, with Zara, Mango and H&M already stacking their shelves with look a likes. And, having been to try on the wannabes/homages I can say that they aren’t too bad. Here are a few of my favorites:

Isabel Marant £670

Zara £100

Isabel Marant £770

Mango £160

Acne £350

Topshop £75
