Ghostpoet ends his tour with a bang

ghostpoet music review the cluny newcastle

Sporting a dark green Barbour, big geek glasses and with the mic hanging off his bottom lip, Ghostpoet brought some much-needed energy to the Cluny on Monday.

The small space worked for his blend of rap, synth and hip hop and, accompanied by electric guitar and some heavy drum beats, he managed to put a fresh spin on album Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam.

Although it’s not the kind of music you’d easily dance to, hits like ‘Liiines’, ‘Cash and Carry Me Home’, and ‘Survive It’  got a big reception and he showcased some new material including ‘Clapham South’ towards the end.

Ultimate gentleman and ultimate artist – it’s a shame the current Ghostpoet tour is just ending. I’ll be looking forward to his return.
