Durham 1st XV produced a powerful if not at times slightly error ridden performance to overcome Edinburgh 1st XV in the last 16 of the cup and to move onto a 32 game unbeaten streak.

Durham were always favourities in this game with Edinburgh sitting just above the relegation zone in the Premier North B and DURFC’s 2’s having already beaten them 14 – 36 in Edinbuirgh this season.

Particular highlights were hatricks from lock Josh Beaumont and winger Sam Rupar as well as two well deserved tries for fresher Simon Hamersley at full-back. Jack Pattinson also produced an action packed display from the flank.

Durham must now focus, firstly, on the upcoming league match away against Northumbria on the 8th February.

They must also however, build for the semi-final against Cardiff which will be held at Durham City in two weeks time, with a big crowd expected to cheer the Palatinates on.

Durham are again looking favourities for that match, with Cardiff sitting 6th in the Premier League South with just one win from four games away from home.
