New footage shows police retrieving machete after Godiva halls stabbing

The video was taken by a Godiva resident

On 8th March a 20-year-old man, believed to be a Godiva resident, was stabbed in the student accommodation.

New footage sent to The Coventry Tab by a Godiva Place resident shows police discovering a machete in the Godiva bike sheds near block five. The footage can be seen on The Coventry Tab Instagram story.

The video shows police detaining a man in handcuffs while other officers search the bike shed. Two officers retrieve the machete from the bike shed and place it on the ground.

A Godiva resident confirmed this, saying: "Yeah it was a machete. Ten inches. I heard the police officer saying."

You can also spot the fence being slightly damaged in the background of the video. The same Godiva resident told us: "The broken fence was his attempt to escape."

West Midlands Police told The Coventry Tab: "Two men armed with knives are believed to have forced entry into a flat and demanded a watch before stabbing a 20-year-old man in the back of the head.

"He was treated at the scene for injuries which are not believed to be serious.

"Another 20-year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault where he remains in police custody."
