A man has died by suicide near the Transport Museum

Pedestrians are being directed to use an alternative route


A man has died by suicide near a fun fair taking place in Pool Meadow near the Transport Museum.

Footage on Snapchat shows the emergency services tending to the man. Images from the clip have not been included in the article to preserve the victim's dignity.

Multiple police cars currently are on the scene and Fairfax Street and Hale Street are closed off as emergency services are called to investigate. All traffic has been diverted from the area, some buses have been cancelled.

Pedestrians and onlookers are now being advised to avoid the area by the police as it is still an active scene.

At this time, the West Midlands Police have not issued an official statement. The Tab Coventry has approached them for comment.

A statement from Coventry Police Facebook page reads:

"We were called just after 3.15pm today to concerns for the welfare of a man on a bridge the junction of Hales Street/St Agnes Lane in #Coventry.

"Officers attended the scene, but sadly he was pronounced dead just before 4pm.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are trying to identify the man's next of kin."
