‘It’s been hell since we moved in’: Cardiff student found dead mouse in her bed

A Cardiff University nursing student shared her horror at finding a dead mouse in her bed after moving into her her student house.

Chloe Adams recently moved into the property on Dogfield Street, Cathays, and was aware of mice in the property, having previously seen one inside.

Sharing a clip on TikTok, the 24-year-old explained how she found the mouse in her bed, after she had seemingly “rolled over and squished it” in her sleep.

Chloe explained how she was disturbed to find the mouse in her bed after she had been relaxing and watching films, having only moved in a week prior.

She uploaded a video of the mouse on TikTok, where it has has amassed more than 90,000 views and hundreds of comments.

Chloe described the ordeal, saying: “My skin crawled knowing I’ve been sleeping with a mouse in my bed.

“I felt awful – it must have crawled in after I had checked the bed, and I must have rolled over and squished it. I feel terrible.”

However, shortly after falling asleep, Chloe woke horrified to find another mouse scurrying around her room, which can be seen in the video she shared online. Due to this situation and lack of resolution she has resorted to living in her housemate’s room.

She added that she had been “up all night stressing”, feeling unable to stay in the room.

Chloe knew there were mice in the house after she had seen droppings, before actually spotting one. Housemates could also hear the scratching sounds coming from within the walls, with Chloe adding that she could hear the pitter-patter of feet in the house of about 20 mice.

The student has described the house as “just not liveable” and has been forced to turn to alternative measures until pest control resolves the issue.

Action is yet to be taken by the letting agency; Chloe reported the mouse droppings immediately to Pinnacle Letting Agents but it wasn’t until the dead mouse was found that they were responsive.

A Pinnacle Letting Agents spokesman said: “We take complaints about live mice very seriously and we have instructed the council pest control to attend.

“We will ask the landlord to action any recommendations made by the council’s pest control team.”
