A new study has named Queen Street as Britain’s best high street.
The study by Globaldata for American Express crowned the high street as the best in Britain based on responses from around 2,000 consumers across the UK.
Renamed in 1886 in honour of Queen Victoria, Cardiff’s high street was pinpointed for its variety with a mix of retail, entertainment and transportation links all in one place. It has also been praised for its accessibility levels in the city centre.
Close to historical landmarks, such as Cardiff Castle and with access to Principality Stadium, St. Davids indoor shopping centre and Cardiff Market, Queen Street has proved to be popular with consumers.
BBC News reported that shoppers also appreciate the “independent pubs and restaurants” on offer, with many saying that these are what make the high street “great”.
From nights out to shopping to going to watch the rugby, Queen Street has it all and more but the results of the study were met with a few mixed reactions.
One shopper told the BBC that the high street “isn’t like it used to be”, while others expressed their love for the high street.
