Add these questions to your pub quizzes to test your knowledge of the ‘Diff

We thought we’d help you out

The best part of my week is catching up with my uni friends on zoom and absolutely thrashing them at every pub quiz (undefeated champion). But spending your precious time making the quiz is definitely the worst part. Especially when you could be sunbathing on the roof with a bev instead.

Don’t fear, we’ve got you covered. Each week we will release two rounds for you to steal for your very own Zoom quizzes. We can’t say they won’t make you miss the ‘Diff though, soz.

It’s super simple to follow, all the questions are laid out first, and then all the answers.

Round One – Club Nights

I know that this will be the toughest round for a lot of you who can barely remember where the club is after pre’s, let alone any specific details. But we thought it was only fair to give the most sober amongst you some kind of reward for putting up with the holding back of hair and vomit all year long.

  1. What are the 3 Quids in mascots?
  2.  When is last entry at Live Lounge?
  3. On which day is Juice and which day is YOLO?
  4.  How much is a double vodka lemonade at SU?
  5. How many Wetherspoons’ does Cardiff have?
  6. What band does the wall near The Live Lounge toilets mention?
  7. How many bars does the SU have?
  8. What Cardiff club features in Gavin and Stacey when Bryn is throwing up?
  9. Which club has mirrored walls? (Which get very confusing and are especially easy to walk into after a few trips to the bar?)
  10. What are Friday nights at Story called?

Round Two – Cardiff University

Time to see how well you know the University that you attend. As it turns out I know so little about it I may as well go to Met.

  1. How many students are enrolled? (Allow + or – 5000)
  2. What is the motto on our coat of arms?
  3.  What rank are we in the guardian for the UK? (Allow + or – 5)
  4. How many Nobel Prize winners have lectured at Cardiff?
  5. Name one of the Nobel Prize winners who has lectured at Cardiff. (Hint: the biosciences building is named after one of them and it’s got the best cafe on campus).
  6. What percentage of students say they’re satisfied with Cardiff Uni?
  7. Cardiff University belongs to what group of prestigious universities? (Hint: the first word is a very unpopular male name)
  8. What year was the University founded in? (Allow + or – 50 years if you’re feeling generous)
  9. What ranking is Cardiff SU out of all the university SU’s in the UK?
  10. What rank are we globally according to the Times? (Again, allow + or – 10 if you’re feeling kind)

Answers

Time to see how you guys did… and also find out who the alcoholic of the group is. I recommend some kind of forfeit for the loser to fully spice it up.

  2.  What is the last entry time at The Live Lounge? 2am
  3. Which day is Juice and which day is YOLO? Juice is Saturday and YOLO is Wednesday (Honestly I think points should be taken off it you didn’t get this one).
  4.  How much is a double vodka lemonade at SU? £3.50
  5. How many Wetherspoons does Cardiff have? 9
  6. What band does the wall in The Live Lounge mention? Pink Floyd
  7. How many bars does the SU have? 4
  8. What club features in Gavin and Stacey when Bryn is throwing up? Pryzm (“you’ll never get me out in Cardiff” is what they all say)
  9. Which club has mirrored walls? Soda

Round Two – Cardiff University

  1. How many students are enrolled? (Allow + or – 5000) 33,109
  2. What is the motto on our coat of arms? ‘Truth, Unity, Concord’ or ‘Gwirionedd, Undod a Chytgord’ (Extra points if you got both I think).
  3.  What rank are we in the guardian? 38th (obv we should be number one).
  4. How many Nobel Prize winners have lectured at Cardiff? 2
  5. Name one of the Nobel Prize winners who have lectured at Cardiff. Sir Martin Evans or Robert Huber (Robert was clearly clever enough to win a Nobel prize but not clever enough to warrant a building named after them).
  6. What percentage of students say they’re satisfied with Cardiff Uni? 84%
  7. Cardiff University belongs to what group of prestigious universities? Russell Group
  8. What year was the University founded in? (Allow + or – 50 years if you’re feeling generous) 1883

  10. What rank are we globally according to the Times? (Again, allow + or – 10 if you’re feeling kind) 198th

If you’ve been following when to give extra points then it should be out of 21 points. Come back next Friday for the next two rounds.
