We asked Cardiff students what they’re most looking forward to about the Gavin and Stacey Xmas Special

The most wonderful time of the year – and this year we are lucky enough to have the present of a Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special!! It's been 10 years since we last saw the cast on our screens and it's happening on Christmas Day at 8:30pm, BBC1.

With the characters looking a little bit older, and the camera quality greatly improved, everyone is very much looking forward to this special airing on our televisions.

We asked Cardiff students what they're most looking forward to about this long-awaited special.

“How baby Neil is getting on and whether he is still called Neil, the baby”

This one is on all of our minds. Baby Neil is named after his dad, Smithy (Neil Smith) but with him now being 10 years older, is he still Neil the baby?

Also, we wonder what sort of things he will interested in, like is he supporting Cardiff City or West Ham? Remember the awkward Christmas when Dave and Smithy both got baby Neil a football shirt? Of course you do.

“If Dave is gone for good and if Nessa and Smithy ever properly be together”

This was a popular answer, as we never know with Nessa and Smithy. Although they have a baby together (and Smithy stopped her wedding) they never professed any love towards one another nor did Smithy want to marry Nessa in place of Dave. This could be an interesting one.

“What actually happened on the fishing trip!?”

Another popular answer; the fishing trip mystery has been brought up in almost every season. Will this special finally be the time we actually find out what happened? I think some of us have a few ideas, but it would be nice for Bryn and Jason to come forward and explain it first-hand.

“Is Stacey just as annoying as she was before?”

A controversial topic, being as Stacey is one of the characters the show is actually named after. But I’m sure you can agree that Stacey was just that little bit annoying in all three seasons. Maybe she has changed this Christmas, or maybe the show wouldn’t be the same without her annoying whining and weird flirting.

“What Bryn has been up to – basically just anything to do with Bryn”

Ah, Bryn. An absolute favourite, I wonder if he's still in awe of Mint Bailey's and whether he's found out if they've tried anything else with it.

“How is Gavin and Stacey’s baby?”

If you remember at the end of the last episode, Stacey is pregnant. Is it a boy or a girl? And what’s its name? Is their baby and baby Neil best friends?

“If Gavin still wears that bloody blue bomber jacket”

The classic blue bomber. If you don’t remember it, it was baby blue with a red tartan lining inside. He wore it for what seemed like EVERY episode. Maybe his character wouldn’t be the same without it, so let’s hope it comes back and makes an appearance in this Christmas Special.
