Wood Street closed as police search the River Taff for a missing man

The police, fire service, and coastguards are searching for the missing man

The police have been extensively searching for a man today who has been reported missing since 4am.

Wood Street has been closed in both directions during the day, while police and other emergency services including the Coast Guard and the South Wales Fire Service have been searching the River Taff. Wood Street remains closed at the moment, but the bridge at Wood Street has recently reopened.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "Police received reports of concern for a missing person which was reported shortly after 4am this morning. The man was last seen in the vicinity of the Wood Street bridge over the river Taff.

"There is nothing to confirm that he has entered the water. However, colleagues from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are assisting by carrying out a search of the river."

The river search comes after nightshift cops rescued a woman from the River Taff three nights earlier.
