Here are the best signs from today’s Cardiff University strikes in Cathays Park

Over 150 lecturers, staff and students attended in protest of the pension cuts

Today marked the start of the UCU university strikes, which will involve fourteen days of industrial action against pension cuts that will leave lecturers £10,000 out of pocket per year.

At 11am today, both lecturers and students gathered outside the Main Building in protest, marching towards Cathays Park. Here's a selection of the best banners we saw on display.

Welsh politician and leader of Plaid Cymru, Leanne Wood, was a spokesperson for the rally, asking the crowd: "What is the point of shiny new buildings if you can't attract staff and lecturers to teach here?"

If unresolved, strike action looks set to continue until the end of this academic year, potentially affecting final exams.
