Main Building was super lit today – here’s why

Three fire engines were on the scene and students had to evacuate

Deadline season got a bit heated earlier this afternoon, as people gathered outside main building for over an hour wondering why fire engines were there after an evacuation from the building.

It was later confirmed that there was a fire, as all students and staff were evacuated safely from the building.

Further investigation from Cardiff University Security and fire services has been undergoing since.

It has now been disclosed that there was an isolated fire in a fume cupboard in the University’s main building.

Unless students are collecting belongings, the building will remain closed for the rest of today and will reopen as normal tomorrow.

Rooms 1.85 to 1.89 and the refectory will be closed to students and staff until further notice.
