A firework set off indoors started a house fire in Cathays

It happened at around six o’clock

A house fire started in Cathays last night after a firework was set off indoors.

The fire was one of a number of incidents in Cardiff.

A police investigation has been launched to find the exact cause of the fire.

People were letting off fireworks in the vicinity prior to the scene, yet no other incidents have been mentioned.

It’s not unusual for fireworks displays to be staged in bizarre locations around Cathays – last year a group of second years started a pyrotechnical display in the middle of Gordon Road.

Reports of the blaze came through just after six o’clock, with fire crews dispatched  immediately to the scene.

It is only believed to have been a small fire with no injuries reported and the exact location not yet released.
