Now second man charged over attempted rape at Gorsedd Gardens

The attack took place last Thursday at 4.30am


A 23-year-old man has been charged with attempted rape over the attack in Gorsedd Gardens.

Khalid Alahmadi, a 23-year-old student, has been charged with the attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman after the attack on the morning of Thursday September 24.

The assault led to police sealing off the park for 12 hours, with forensic officers and sniffer dogs at the scene.

Alahmadi was arrested on Saturday September 26 and appeared before court today.

The University of South Wales student gave no plea, and spoke only to confirm his identity.

Solicitor Neil Davies told Cardiff Magistrates’ Court that his client would be contesting the charge.

He was remanded in custody with a set date at Cardiff Crown Court for October 12.

Chair of the Magistrates, Ian Pratt, told the defendant: “You are being sent to trial for the offence of attempted rape. You will attend on October 12 for a preliminary hearing.”
