James Thomas has been named captain of the Men’s Rugby Varsity team to face Swansea at the Millennium Stadium on April 24.

Thomas is an extremely experienced player having represented and captained Wales at both Under 18 and Under 20 level.

The No. 8  currently plays for Bedwas RFC and Newport Gwent Dragons and has been a valuable asset to the Cardiff University squad ever since he arrived last year.

He said: “I’m excited for the day, but we have a lot to live up to after last year’s performance.”

“I’m honoured to be captain and hopefully I can do the job as well as others such as Rhys Luckwell have done throughout the year.”

“We have a great team that is full of talent. I can’t wait to get out there and put on a good performance, both as a team and from an individual point of view, and of course retain the trophy!”

A sight we all hope to see again this year!!

The final Men’s Rugby Varsity Squad is as follows:

Forwards: James Thomas, James Pearse, Arthur Ellis, Joe Franchi, James Sawyer, George Lee, Nicholas Huntley, Mark O’Connor, Ben Egan, Bradley Thyer, Matt Sinderberry, Aled Rees, Rhys Price

Backs: Sion Jones, Charlie Simpson, Adam Field, Rhys Howells, Rhodri Needham, William Jones, Elliot Jones, Bryn Phillips, Jack Phillips, Max Woodward, Jack Neville, Jack Flower

Head Coach: Martyn Fowler

Congratulations to JT and all the boys involved!
