What’s On: Week 7

Looking for something to do? We’ve cobbled together a creative combination of curiosities coming up to the final weeks

Film Music Theatre what's on

Bridgemas is nearly upon us, and there are plenty of cultural events to get us in the spirit.

Theatre

Comments Disabled – Monday – 8pm, Corpus Playroom – £6/5 (book here)

Disability-themed stand-up could potentially be a recipe for disaster, but could equally, Culture hopes, be brilliant. Plus all proceeds go to MIND, so if it’s not funny, it’s certainly clever.

ADC/Footlights Pantomime: The Princess and the Pea – Wednesday – Saturday 7th December – 7.45pm, ADC – £12/10 (book here)

The funny season is finally upon us! Footlights Ryan Ammar and Ben Pope team up once more, this time to retell the classic fairytale. Tickets are sold out online, but hold out hope for day returns.

Film

About Time: Phillipines Fundraiser – Saturday – 10am, Arts Picturehouse – £10/8.50 (book here)

Probably the only reason you could justify going to the cinema at 10 in the morning – for a good cause! Plus, gotta make the “holiday season” as an excuse to binge on shitty romcoms.

Blue Is The Warmest Colour – ongoing, Arts Picturehouse (book here)

The Cannes super-movie finally hits Cambridge screens in all its lesbionic glory, hurrah! Adapted from a graphic novel, prepare for the very, very graphic.

Music

ArcSoc Elephant Head feat. Afriquoi – Thursday – 10pm, Fez – £7/5/4 (more info here)

Always a reliable night out, ArcSoc returns to Fez with a selection of talented disk jockeys. If the Facebook page is anything to go by, elephant masks will be out in force.

The Orb – Sunday – 7.30pm, The Corn Exchange – £20 (book here)

The 1980s ambient/house group come to Cambridge to celebrate their 25th(!) anniversary. Definitely before our time, but groooovy.

C.R.E.E.M. Full Moon Party – Sunday – 10pm, Fez – £5/3 (more info here)

‘Thailand comes to Cambridge’ has us sold, UV cannons, mildly perturbed.

Miscellaneous

Cambridge Affordable Vintage Fair – Saturday – 10am, The Guildhall – £2 (more info here)

Everything from men’s clothes to homewares to jewellery to ephemera and collectibles will be on sale on da cheap at the Guildhall. Not only this, but off the back of the success of Emma’s Vintage Fair + Tea and Cake, Pear of Peas will be serving afternoon tea. An unbeatable combination continues.

Wolfson’s Almost-but-not-quite-christmas Howler with Nick Mohammed – Monday – 8pm

TV favourite Nick Mohammed follows in the footsteps of Russell Howard. “Drinks are cheap, laughs are free.” They say, we expect they’re right.
