Selwyn Showballs and more

Students have been shocked – and many horrified – when innocently searching for the Selwyn Snowball website.

| UPDATED domain Internet porn Selwyn snowball website

Selwyn’s Snowball has hit a publicity crisis, as students have been accidentaly missing their site – and finding transexual porn.

A surprise awaits students who type a ‘.com’ address into the search bar when looking for the Selwyn Snowball online.

The ball’s official website – SelwynSnowball.co.uk – remains up and running, but the domain name SelwynSnowball.com directs web users to a dodgy porn site charmingly titled ‘Shemale And F**king’.

The Tab took pains to peruse site’s homepage so readers don’t have to, in the righteous name of journalism.

It boasts: “Daily updated thumbnail picture and movie galleries!” and a diverse collection of content ranging from “First time with shemale… Porn Archive Fetish Content” to “Pantyhose shemales Tranvestites Tranny”.

At the time of writing, it is unknown whether or not those students curious about the ball have found themselves in sticky situations on public computers.

The unfortunate situation was brought to the attention of Selwyn students after Adam Gray, a third year musician at the college, posted a Facebook status detailing the shocking result of his erroneous online search.

He wrote: “This year’s snowball promises to be better than ever”, before directing others to the porn website.

The post that raised the alarm

“I have to say, I was pretty astonished when I stumbled across it – I almost dropped my skinny chai latte!”, he told The Tab.

Snowball president Tom Walsh revealed his sense of humour by ‘liking’ Gray’s post, which is arguably a cause of embarrassment for the committee and the college.

He told The Tab: “Back in 2011, someone decided that the Snowball website gets enough traffic for it to be worth misdirecting some of its visitors. They weren’t wrong – this year, the official website has received thousands of hits.

“In response to this unprecedented demand we have been given College approval to release an additional 100 Standard tickets for sale. Given the rate at which our initial allocation sold out, we expect these to be gone within the next week.

We’d rather spend our guests’ £69 on great food, drink and entertainment than on pursuing a slightly dodgy company from LA. Nevertheless, we apologise for any upset that may be caused to people who actively type in the .com address”.
