FULL TIME. OXFORD 28-10 CAMBRIDGE. Gutting for the Light Blues but they were outplayed today.

Two minutes left and Karl Outen, Oxford second row, has won man of the match. Tirelessly aggressive and boderline psychotic- well deserved.

Its all going wrong for Cambridge with yet another mistake. Need a miracle.

Govind Oliver goes off for Oxford. He’s been superb today.

CONVERSION OXFORD. Matt Janney adds the extras to a backdrop of wild Dark Blue celebrations in the crowd.

TRY OXFORD. 10-26. Fly-half, Tom Mitchell dummies and wriggle his way through the tackles to touch down by the posts. That is surely that.

Oxford in complete control here. Cambridge losing ground even with the ball.

Cambridge pen, time for some territory.

Brahman-Law is off after a haul of 11 points from the tee at 67%.

Oxford straight back onto the attack…Cambridge need to get some ball, but only kick out on the fall.

Oxford look in control at the moment…

Attendence at today’s game is 27,255 – but only half the crowd can go home happy.

Carter has been immense for Oxford today. Huge hit on Blake.

PENALTY OXFORD. 10-21. Brahman-Law makes no mistake and Oxford stretch their lead.

Cambridge’s press defence breached and the Dark Blues are straight back at the jugular.

Penalty to Oxford. Cambridge off feet at the ruck and they’re going for the posts. The Dark Blue game plan is winning out at the moment.

It’s all Oxford now. Try line under siege.

MISSED CONVERSION. Brahman-Law misses from wide left after Paul Loudon nearly charges the conversion down. Great commitment from the scot.

TRY OXFORD. 4. Karl Outen. Cam,bridge have their own weapon turned against them and they just couldn’t deal wit the power of the Dark Blues.

Here comes the Oxford rolling maul…

Excellent break from Oxford’s Mitchell combining with Morris but Cambridge cover well.

MGK seems to be moving a little tentatively. Watch this space.

O’Toole is still looking lively with a chip and chase. Can Cambridge get those back three into the game?

Back underway. What will Guinness King have changed?

Cambridge have threatened sporadically but they’ve shown what their backs are capable of given space. Cracking half to come.

Oxford surprisingly willing to play an open game but they’re giving an excellent account of themselves.

Oxford probably deserve to be ahead in a half where both team made their feelings known to each other. Fiesty.

That’s the half, and Oxford lead by 3.

MISSED PENALTY. Poor contact from Townend and he’s shanked it left.

Penalty to Cambridge. Infringement in the maul form Oxford and from just outside the 22 it’s a chance to go in all square.

5 to go and it’s been a fantastic half. Intensity from both sides and little to choose between them.

Replays are showing that Carter had to gon off after Allen punched him in the eye. No wonder he’s riled!

And he’s straight into the thick of it bundling Stevens into touch but conceding a penalty for violent play.

Captain Carter is back on for Oxford with a bulge like a grapefruit under hi eye.

Oxford’s Govind Oliver throwing nicely at the lineout. it’s looking a dependable set-piece for the dark Blues.

PENALTY OXFORD. 10-13. Cassian Brahman-Law has his kicking boots on today. Another gorgeous connection.

Penalty to Oxford. Sly trip by Annett at the back of the scrum. 35 metres and a chance to regain the lead for Brahman-Law.

Another big hit from Guiness King who seems injury free and raring in his last game of rugby before he hangs up the boots.

Amongst that mayhem Oxford’s captain, Carter has come off for Jason Law.

TRY!! YES THEY CAN. 10-10 Penalty try given for collapsing the scrum under the posts. Townend knocks over the kick and the scores are level.

NO TRY. Oxford’s scrambled defence did just enough. Can Cambridge pile on the pressure?

Well it’s not a knock on but who touched it down?

VIDEO REF Cambridge try- O’Toole collects brilliantly and chips the Oxford line. He flyhacks it on but Blake looks like he’s knocked it on.

20 minutes in and Oxford dominating the scoreboard. Not having it all their own way though.

PENALTY Oxford. 3-10. Cassian Brahman-Law slams it through the middle of the uprights.

PENALTY TO OXFORD. Cambridge penalised for offside and Oxford have a shot at goal from straight in front 35 metres out.

Cambridge don’t seem too put off by the early try. Let’s hope we don’t have a repeat of last year.

Cambridge trying to buid pressure, but sloppy handling.

Pure aggression by both sides….even the cameraman gets it.

Guiness King chases down Townend’s kich superbly and Oxford are penned back.

first 10 – open game so far with plenty of play by both sides.

CONVERSION. 3-7. Cassian Brahman-Law strokes it confidently through from out wide.

TRY OXFORD 3-5. Dark Blues spread it wide, work a maul on the line and Will Kay bundles it over.

Cambridge lose own line-out on 22…

PENALTY: Cambridge 3-0, just the start they wanted.

Townend lining up pen…

The famous Light Blue rolling maul is straight into action and it’s an early penalty!

The rain is whipping in now. Perfect for Oxford’s pack and a forward battle.

Kick off in 130th Varsity.

This means Hugo Cobb can be called on as a front row sub but with one change there already and Oxford’s strong pack it would be a big blow.

Cambridge team news- Frank Saunders has broken his foot and has been withdrawn from the bench.

Jerusalem booming around a filling Twickenham before the teams come out. the atmosphere is building nicely.

Getting rather gloomy here, floodlights on. Let’s hope match lightens things up.

With 30mins to go, we turn our attention to the MAIN GAME.

Varsity squads now out warming up. The time has nearly come…big screen taken us right back to 1872, but its all about 2011 today.

Oxford team doing lap of honour, lapping up the applause.

As the weather progressively worsens, the crowd will be appreciating some warmth.

An entertaining match which has provided a decent warm-up to the main show.

Oxford have just lifted the trophy, cue music.

Cambrige just going up to collect loser medals. Much better 2nd half performance.

FULL TIME CAMBRIDGE 11-19 OXFORD Better second half from Cambridge but Oxford too strong in the end.

Clock ticking down…

MISSED by Foster. Narrowly left and theres only 4 minutes on the clock. That could well be it for Cambridge.

Penalty to Cambridge. Straight in front on the 10-metre line. Chance to get themselves within a score.

Cambridge just don’t look dynamic enough to threaten with the backs, Will Smith apart who’s been lively all day.

Overlap for Smith but he couldn’t get his head up. Ball turned over and cleared.

Up by the Oxford 22 now. Time for the big push. 11 minutes on the clock.

Will Smith loitering with intent in space out wide but the kick out wide is a big risk in this wind.

Every Cambridge kick into the wind is inviting Oxford onto them. Some ball in hand is desperately needed.

Well the crowd are getting into it! Chants of Cambridge ringing out but they need to get the ball and get out of their 22 sharpish.

Oxford maintaining possession well. Hard to see where the points are coming from for the Light Blues.

Oxford sub Philip Bell breaks the Cambridge line easily but the defence closes up before he can free the men wide.

20 minutes left and Cambridge are 8 points behind. They need to find some concerted pressure from somewhere.

Wareham nearly in for Oxford but a wonderful covering tackle from Will Smith halts him 3 metres out.

Better from Cambridge but sloppy handling errors are costing them and the pressure’s released.

MISSED PENALTY. Foster hooks it left but it’s not easy in this wind. This is better pressure from the Light Blues.

Penalty to Cambridge and they’re looking at the posts again. Can they whittle the lead don further. 30 yards out on the right.

Rain starting to come down. Not good news for a backs-centered Blues side.

Cobb is off for Cambridge, surely in case he is needed during the main event.

Penalty to Cambridge. Oxford penalised for hands in the ruck and Foster’s taking it on from the same area as the last one.

Oxford start the second half as they finished the first, overlapping with ease. Wareham nealy through to the line.

HALF-TIME CAMBRIDGE 8-19 OXFORD The Light Blue defence has been terrible, especially in the backs and they need to build up some pressure.

PENALTY CAMBRIDGE. 8-19. Foster strikes it well and that’s the last action of the half.

Cambridge penalty and Foster’s going for the posts from about 30 yards and left.

CONVERSION 5-19 Levine slots the extras.

TRY OXFORD. 5-17 11. John Harkness The Cambridge defence is non-existent as Dace strolls through and they work it wide for an easy try.

Finally some Cambridge pressure but no support for Smith in the midfield and Oxford turn it over. Some serious work to do at half-time

CONVERSION. 5-12. Daniel Levine slots a wonderful kick form the left touchline in the swirling wind. The try had been coming.

TRY OXFORD. 10-5 8. Ben Girling Awful defence from Cambridge as Oxford loop round the blindside and find their way to the line too easily.

And they’re almost in again as Vallance breaks but misses the inside pass to his winger.

Flowing stuff from the Dark Blues who aren’t scared to offload.

But a big hit from Kelly on Girling sends the ball forward and Cambridge can clear their lines.

Penalty to Oxford. Cambridge off their feet at the ruck. Oxford kick for touch rather than taking the points and pressure on the line.

Cambridge’s midfield are struggling. Murdoch easily sidestepped by Oxford’s Harkness.

SUBSTITUTION Full Back Rob Stephen has had to come off for Cambridge. Chris Bluke on in his place.

It’s all Dark Blue at the moment with Wareham tackled into touch ten yards out. Oxford creating overlaps at will, it seems.

And Oxford are straight down the other end where they nearly force the mistake from Stephen. End-to-end stuff.

MISSED CONVERSION Foster steps up but fires wide left. Frantic start!

TRY CAMBRIDGE. 5-5 12. Seb Foster Codrington offloads brilliantly from the tackle and Foster is on his shoulder in support to run it home.

The Light Blues are fighting back, Will Smith coming into the midfield, breaking the line and gaining 20 yards to put Oxford under pressure.

And Oxford arte nearly in again from the kick off, working an overlap on the left but failing to find the ball back inside.

MISSED CONVERSION Levine can’t add to his own score.

TRY OXFORD. 0-5. 15. Daniel Levine bursts through and Rob Steven slips. Snoddy makes a desperate tackle but can’t stop the try. Poor start.

AND WE’RE OFF. The brave few are trying their best to create an atmosphere but it’s a scrappy start from both sides.

Stadium is pretty empty for the u21s. A scattering of dedicated followers have braved the wind but it’s a strange atmosphere to walk out to.

Hugo Cobb u21s prop is also the Blues 23rd man after a foot injury to Frank Saunders. He could be playing a lot of rugby today.

That’s the strongest u21s team in a while. Keep an eye out for Will Smith who has been impressing for the Blues recently.

13. S. Foster (Fitzwilliam) 14. W. Smith (Girton) 15. R. Stephen (King’s).

9, K. Vora (Fitzwilliam) 10. A. Abraham (Homerton) 11. J. Snoddy (Sidney Sussex) 12. A. Murdoch (Homerton).

4. N. Codrington (Christ’s) 5. M. Mather (Downing) 6. J. Scott (Trinity) 7. H. Kelly (St. John’s) 8. T. Palacios (Fitzwilliam, Captain).

Starting lineups for the u21s- Cambridge 1.N. Marshall (Trinity) 2. S. Cook (Sidney Sussex) 3. H. Cobb (Magdalene).

The wind is fair whipping around. Wouldn’t want to be on kicking duties today!

U21s out on the pitch to warm up. Big day for them too and we’ll bring you their game live.

The Tab heads to the press box with Twickenham’s greasiest bacon churning. We’ll be bringing you the u21 game along with build up from 11.

The big day is upon us. Clouds presage rain. Good news for pack-heavy Oxford, the 8/13 favourites with Ladbrokes to win the Varsity Match.
