Brookes chancellor becomes Britain’s most successful female rower

She’s a CBE, five time Olympic medal winner and six time world champion


Katherine Grainger CBE, the chancellor of Oxford Brookes, has just become Britain’s most decorated female Olympian after winning another Olympic medal at Rio.

Today, Grainger and her partner, Victoria Thornley, gained a silver medal for Great Britain in the Double Scull rowing event today. The pair were beaten to the gold in the last 100m by Poland.

Grainger’s achievements include one gold and four silver olympic medals- one medal at every olympics since Sydney in 2000. She’s also a six time world champion.

She is now officially Britain’s most successful female rower.
