Brookes and Oxford uni spend the most on exercise equipment
The only uni to beat us was Cambridge
Together with Oxford uni, Brookes spends the most on exercise equipment than any other UK uni.
According to Amazon figures, we are the second most likely to buy exercise equipment. In between Fuzzies and all the delicious food on Cowley road we have to keep fit somehow.
Exercise bars to perform pull-ups, dumbbell sets to tone arms and Fitbit wristbands and “smartbands” to track exercise are reportedly the favourites for us through the Amazon Student service.
Amazon Student spokesman Paul Bagstaff told the Oxford Mail: “There is a new wave of health-conscious students who are working towards a healthy body and a healthy mind.
“This attitude is influencing the types of products students are buying with one-day delivery through Amazon Student, with fitness products playing a big part in university life.”
It seems like uni isn’t just about getting a degree anymore, staying fit is important too.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise, with gold medalist Dr Katherine Grainger as our chancellor, that should be enough to inspire any student into keeping fit.
And our rowing team is constantly achieving incredible feats. It really is no surprise that we aren’t the fittest uni.
