When LUSH was burgled, this homeless woman made sure the store got everything back

‘Badass’ Lottie saves the day

Oxford’s Cornmarket Street’s LUSH store was burgled earlier this week – only to have all the goods returned by a homeless woman.

One man reportedly broke into the shop and left with a large box of supplies, including their famous bath bombs and bubble bars and the company laptop costing over £1,000.

Staff were shaken up and “slightly bemused” when they entered the next day to see their shop was looking worryingly sparse. Members of the LUSH team said they are more than just a high street beauty store, but a family, and seeing their products and home destroyed was devastating.

Store Manager James Apherton exclusively told The Tab: “We were really sad and bewildered to see our little shop had been burgled and our company laptop was taken. We did the usual things like calling the police.”

Luckily for the company, all of the stolen goods including the laptop were returned to the shop later that day by Lottie, a homeless women.

Lottie, who often sleeps in the shop door had noted that the man entering was not part of the LUSH team, confronted him and rightfully returned the stolen goods the next afternoon.

James said: “Lottie is awesome, she came by and said ‘I have a whole load of your stuff’. She had seen the man and knew he wasn’t our staff or delivery team so grabbed everything and brought it back in a box. It is so brave of her, she is totally badass. Lottie is now a local celebrity.”

Lottie is now a hero

LUSH posted on their Facebook page and said: “We have known Lottie for years and have always  felt safer with her outside of our shop. We want to share what Lottie did and want to thank her from the bottom of our heart.”

The Oxford team set up a Go Fund Me page after getting such a positive response from locals online because of her selflessness and also with the knowledge that homeless budgets, along with other essential public sectors, are being cut by Oxford Council.
