Deadlines are extended after suspected cyber attack on WiFi

We’ve got an extra 24 hours

24 hour deadlines have been issued after a national cyber attack on universities sent the Brookes internet down.

The academic network Janet has been under suspected cyber attack nationwide meaning online resources, Turnitin reading lists and E-Books on Moodle have all been out of access.

The uni has issued a 24 hour extension for anybody with deadlines today after several assignments could not be uploaded online.

A spokesperson for Brookes has said: “Oxford Brookes is one of a number of universities affected by issues being experienced by the national network which provides IT services to UK research and education institutions.

“The Oxford Brookes Information Solutions team became aware of the issue earlier today and is liasing with the national network to help ensure there is as little disruption as possible.

“The situation has improved but there are still intermittent issues which will continue to be monitored. As a result of this incident, all students are in the process of being emailed with information on an extension to deadlines.”
