Former Brookes law student charged with murder

He’s accused of killing his prison custody officer

Former Brooke Law student, Humphrey Burke has been charged with the murder of Lorraine Barwell, 54.

The 22-year-old caused serious head injuries to his prison custody officer, Lorraine Barwell as she escorted him to a prison van.

She was forced to the ground by the former Brookes student and kicked repeatedly in the head.

Lorraine Barwell died four days after the attack which left her in a coma.

Post-mortem examination tests show that the prison guard died of blunt force trauma to the head.

Humphrey Burke appeared at the Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court by video link on the 10th of July which was when he was charged with the murder of Lorraine Barwell.

Lorraine’s family told the Daily Mail earlier this month their lives had been “ripped apart” by the tragedy.
