Woman arrested in police raid on suspected Cowley brothel
The 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of running the brothel
Police have arrested a 24-year-old “Madam” after a raid on a suspected brothel in Cowley.
The property on Rymers Lane was raided after concerns were raised that it was an unlicensed multiple-occupancy house.
Police were forced to smash their way into the house using an angle grinder armed with a search warrant after the occupants of the suspected brothel refused to answer the door.
An investigation is ongoing into “a variety of alleged offences”.
City Council deputy leader Ed Turner: “Obviously this was an extreme case, but I would encourage anyone with concerns about a property to contact the council.”
Horrified English third year Charles Ward said: “It doesn’t surprise me at all, it is a pretty rough place. Not as bad as Streatham though, that shit’s the worst.”
