You are at the 49th best uni in the country

According to the Sunday Times

Oxford Brookes has climbed a place in the Sunday Times University rankings, taking us to 49th overall.

The league tables, released yesterday, put the uni comfortably in the top half and higher than every other former Poly, except for Coventry.

But reactions from students regarding Brookes ranking have been mixed.

Third year architect Marjorie was not impressed with the ranking.

She told The Tab: “When I started university it was 45 or something. I thought it would only get better, but then I give more relevance to subject tables”.

When she found out that Brookes was in the top 50, English Literature student Natalie was “genuinely shocked'”.

It turns out students actually enjoy their time here – the dropout rate is eight per cent, well below the average for the majority of institutions.

SU President Andy Pedersen took the chance to lay into Oxford’s “dirty and small” houses, branding them the city’s worst feature.

Today he told The Tab: “It gives me a real sense of pride to see the university doing well and being recognised however it is important not to get complacent as we know the HE environment is constantly changing.”

And there was more good news for the uni this week as the newly opened John Henry Brookes building, was named among the top 15 new buildings in the UK.
