New building, cake and a flash mob

New building opens to musical fanfare.

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE VIDEO.

Yesterday, the new building opened to the sound of Brookes Glee club and the smell of some long, overdue cake.

After waiting quite a few years for the John Henry Brookes Building to finally reach completion students exploring the space were met with the society’s own rendition of ‘Get Lucky’ in a small, yet wholesome flash mob.

Do we get to eat that?

Despite the happiness and exuberant atmosphere that the Glee club tried to produce, one unhappy student commented that it was “an unwelcome distraction for the many people trying to do group work and enjoy their cake.” Others complained about the ridiculous amount of snapchats they received.

The balcony makes a great crow’s nest to find your friends in the crowd

The 2 minute 50 second video also gives you a nice sneak peek into the new building. If you want to see more, click here for The Tab’s exclusive preview of the building from last week.

We’ll have to wait till Wednesday until we get to see the library but until then: ‘let them eat cake!’
