Gentlemen’s Fight Night Fighter Profile

Jack ‘The Bear Jew’ Selt has a few words for his opponent before tonight.

The Tab caught up with Jack ‘The Bear Jew’ Selt before his big fight at The Town Hall. Taking his name from Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, Jack is hoping to channel the aggression of Col. Landa’s men.

What previous boxing experience do you have?

“None at all. I don’t have any fighting experience whatsoever but I have been watching the Rocky films over and over again.”

How do you feel about the night ahead?

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I’m not nervous because of my opponent. I’m far more scared of having to take my top off in front of over 600 people, that’s pretty nerve-wracking!”

What made you borrow your name from Inglorious Basterds?

“It’s a great film, and I’ll definitely be taking the scalp of Ben Bradshaw after I knock him out.”

How’s training been going?

“I think the sessions I have turned up to have been good. I enjoy working with 3x Albanian Champion Denis at the OMAA Gym. It’s the dieting and running that I find most difficult.”

How have you coped with having to abstain from sex and alcohol?

“Well it’s been tough. Obviously my opponent has had no trouble in abstaining from sex as he never gets any anyway. I’ve just about managed to keep the girls away and I’ve cut back on the drinking.”

Ben’s so desperate he’s even trying to go for Jack!

Do you have any words for your opponent, Ben ‘The Ginger Swinger’ Bradshaw?

“I’ll pay for his taxi to the JR afterwards. I’ll even chip in for the coffin.”

Gentlemen’s Fight Night takes place tonight (21st November) at Oxford Town Hall. Brookes Students compete in 8 fights of three rounds each.
