The Cowley Retreat Acoustic Evening

Exclusive video of Kiki Hopkins & Charlie Hughes before their performance at The Cowley Retreat’s acoustic evening.

Kiki Hopkins is set to perform at the Cowley Retreat’s first acoustic evening, tonight, alongside Charlie Hughes. The Tab caught up with her at their sound check this afternoon to bring you an exclusive, pre-performance video and quick interview.

Are you singing an original song?

“No, we’re singing a song called Droplets by Colbie Caillat and Jason Reeves.”

Does the song mean anything to either of you?

“Haha. Yes, I think it means something to both of us in a way.”

How did the two of you meet?

“I went to give my friend’s sister a credit card and he appeared and asked me if I’d been in Carbon the night before. I said yes and then kept seeing him on nights out.

Is tonight the first time you’ve performed live like this?

“Yes!”

If tonight goes well do you think you’ll carry on performing together?

“I think we will. We’d like to. Well if he wants to carry on performing with me!”

Why did you decide to sing this song together?

“I think our voices are quite complimentary. I was originally meant to sing it with Conor Hickey (Brookes student and the guy behind everything going on tonight) but his voice is quite rustic. Charlie and I had these casual jamming sessions and just thought it would be a good idea to go for it.”

Watch The Tab’s exclusive video below and head on down to The Cowley Retreat at 6.30pm tonight (performances start at 7pm) to hear Kiki, Charlie, Conor and more perform.
