Brookes After Dark

Students shoot music video in Brookes building after hours.

| UPDATED

I am sat at home at 8.30 on a Wednesday evening debating with myself whether to venture out or not when I receive a strange phone call off one of my friends asking me to come up to the Richard Hamilton building for Fuzzy pre drinks and muttering something about a music video. Pre drinks on campus? I was too curious to pass it up so armed with my vodka I set off.

I was greeted by an array of people wearing onesies, wizard cloaks, clown costumes and colour smeared across their faces. Someone thrust a beer into my hand and dragged me off to get my face painted, before a voice shouted “take two” and everyone swarmed into a room set up with professional lighting and cameras and a band’s equipment at the front. Slightly alarmed at suddenly finding myself on camera after just coming up for a quick drink everyone one assured me “it’s fine, just dance!”

As the band started up everyone started jumping around and dancing crazily and I quickly got into the swing of things!  A group of semi- tipsy music students in fancy dress and a live alternative-rock band makes you feel like you could be at a pub gig.

After five takes of crowd surfing and sitting on people’s shoulders everyone retired to their various after parties (Fuzzies for me of course.)

So if you’re ever sat alone wondering what to do on a Wednesday night, try having a walk around campus. You never know what you might find.

Keep your eyes peeled for the release of Noe and the Pastel Frontier’s EP and music video in the coming weeks or head to Cellar on Thursday evening where they’ll be performing.
