Brookes’ re-instated rugby team have been forced to sign a contract which means bad behaviour will see them booted out of uni.

The club were slapped with a year’s ban after bad behaviour both on tour and on the streets of Oxford. Accusations included racist and abusive behaviour and vile initiations.

But they are set to return for the 2013-14 season – as long as their players stay on best behaviour. All players must sign a pledge with the uni, and anyone flouting the deal could be kicked out of Brookes.

Three union teams will be entered into the BUCS Leagues but the debate continues to rage over their ban.

Many said the discipline was too harsh and their actions were not any worse than other sports teams at Brookes. However others argue that they are a minority bunch of drunken morons that deserve their fate, if not worse.

An ex-Player said: “Since OBURFC disbanded I have moved to playing Brookes Rugby League alongside many of my old teammates in a better situation that is a lot more fun, I will not return to Rugby Union.”

Nevertheless one indication things will change is the appointment of a Fresher President. The head of the club will be a player that has not been inside the club before and been exposed to the way it was previously.

Next year’s Hockey Club President, David Trim added: “It will be very interesting to see how things are done next year, the Sports Centre must be providing the club with a lot of help and guidance. Being President is a tough job, especially for someone with so little experience.”

This season the Rugby Union club did not receive any funding because of their ban, but next semester they are set to receive in the region of £8000 from Oxford Brookes University.
