A UWE student has passed away at their university accommodation in Bristol

Avon and Somerset Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious


A man in his twenties has passed away at UWE hall of residence in Bristol.

The student lived at the city-centre accommodation, Phoenix Court and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Officers attended an address on Bond Street South, Bristol at approximately 1.20pm yesterday (Wednesday, 1 December), following the sudden death of a man aged in his 20s.

“The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and we’re carrying out further enquiries on behalf of the coroner’s office.

“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

The student residence is operated by Unite Students who in a statement said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with this student’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We have been assisting Avon and Somerset Police with their enquiries, while working closely with the University of the West of England.”
