Brizzle is a top five UK party uni according to The Guardian

They must have ignored Lounge

Brizzle’s place as party central of the South-West has finally been recognised.

The Guardian newspaper, authority on all things hip and groovy, has chosen Bristol as one of the top five best universities for student nightlife. Among lesser university cities like Leeds, London, Glasgow and even Manchester, Bristol was applauded for its venues and parties.

Reminding students to “go and make the most of the social scene” just in case they had forgotten, The Guardian’s article praised Bristol’s influence on the music scene. With huge bands like Massive Attack and Portishead coming from our city, this should come as no surprise.

The newspaper also picked up on the fact that Bristol was one of the centres of early dubstep, showing that we’ve been moshing to drops before it was cool.

The centre of cool

Freddie Norris, programmer for our very own warehouse club Motion, told the Guardian that: “The unique venues and diverse music make it a great city to be a student clubber”.

2nd Year Law Student Isobel Wimbleton said: “I’m actually quite surprised because all the clubs are shit except for Lizard Lounge”.

Gabby van der Valk, a lowly fresher at Oxford, said: “I’m jealous of Bristol’s clubbing scene, here in Oxford we just have lots of grass.”

Electro heavyweights Bonobo and Groove Armada are set to hit Bristol’s vibrant scene in the next few months and are sure to help further draw attention to our city’s fantastic late night events.
