Grandad’s delight after eggstraordinary 25 billion to one meal

Alan Millar, 72, was served triple AND double yolkers

The shell-shocked diner who was served both a triple and a double yolker at a Bristol pub bought all the staff a drink to celebrate.

Alan Millar, 72, from Fishponds, Bristol, had been at the pub to celebrate his son’s birthday when he decided to order a classic lunch of ham, eggs and chips.

Retired scaffolder Alan said: “It was my son’s birthday so we just went to the pub for a quick drink and then I decided to have something to eat.

“I chose to have two eggs, ham and chips. When the manager brought it out I noticed there were three yolks in one.

He could hardly contain his eggcitement

“Then I looked the other side of the plate and saw a double yolk. It was incredible – I’ve never had that many yolks in one go before.”

Pub owner Amy Devenish said her customer was “so excited” at what was placed before him.

Ms Devenish added: “The boys in the kitchen started frantically ringing the bell, so we went in to find out what was up.

“They said ‘have a look at this, it’s a triple yolker’. We couldn’t believe it, we’ve never seen one of those before.

“I took a snap on my phone and then once the ham, egg and chips was plated up I took it out to the table.

This is what got egg fan Alan Millar “so excited”

“The old boy was so excited as he’d never seen one before.”

Mr Millar shared his delight by buying all the staff a drink to celebrate.

He said: “I’ve heard of double yolks but never tripe yolks. It was fantastic, I was amazed. Everyone wanted to take pictures – they couldn’t believe it.

“I certainly can’t complain – I got my value for money. I normally go to a different pub down the road but I’ll be going to this one more often now.”

The chances of being served up both a double and triple yolker on the same plate is thought to be a whopping 25 billion to one.
