Hundreds disappointed as ski trip sells out in five hours

But at least it wasn’t as stressful as last year

The official uni ski trip sold out within hours, with thousands of you scrambling to grab a place.

1,500 lucky bastards will be going skiing next Easter for less than £400, and many skipped lectures today while they waited in the online ticket queue for up to two hours.

Booking opened at midday today but some people had started to join the queue in the morning.

Over 500 places were sold in the first hour of booking and by 2 o’clock there were only 300 places left.

Students had a wild time last year despite the massive cock-up with booking places.

I entered the queue at 12:05 and finished the booking at 13:53 – two hours of queuing!” said a Philosophy fresher.

“At one point there were over 1500 people in front of me in the queue. I had to miss a lecture – I feel really bad about it!”

Matt Woods said: “I started queuing at about 11:55am and I was 1,117th in the queue. I didn’t get access to booking until roughly 1pm.”

Lucky bugger ObiWanHenry (we’re not sure that’s his real name) says he only waited about half an hour and was 276th in the queue when he joined, while the unfortunate French & Spanish student Austin Smith missed out on a ticket after being assigned 1000th place.

But Max Clinch, who’s arranged this whole shindig, is pretty pleased with the system.

“At one point we were processing two bookings every second. The new queue system worked perfectly,” he says.

“Wasteland (the travel agency) have done a fantastic job responding to queries along with all of committee, who have been sat on computers for the last four hours making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible for all of our members.”

The whole week-long trip costs just £399, but you also have to buy membership to UBSC (University of Bristol Snowsports Club), which is another £20.

Last year the trip sold out in under an hour, but the website blocked hundred of students from accessing the booking page and many people were forced to pay extra for deluxe accommodation instead of standard.
