First time on the ski trip? Here’s some inside tips on making it through the week

| UPDATED

With roughly three weeks to go, the University of Bristol ski trip 2014 is nearly upon us.

This year, over a thousand Bristol students are descending upon Val Thorens for a week of serious powder and partying.

Here’s a guide on how to survive with at least some of your health or dignity in tact.

Sleep on the coach

Front load on sleep so you’ll be ready for this.

Bring pain killers/vitamins to suppress your hangover

For at least long enough to have a chance to put on your ski boots and get a few runs in.

First lift anyone?

Be prepared to live, quite literally, on top of your roommates

Somehow five people get squeezed into a room which is really only made for two or three people.

Don’t attempt that black or going off-piste until at least day 2

Give yourself a chance to regain your ski legs first before you risk breaking them.

Never underestimate the value of a hip flask in your salopettes

Let’s hope your parents won’t be spying on you

Stock up on food at the supermarket in Bourg St Maurice

Shops in the resort are pricey and it’s so much easier to have it done when you get there.

There will never be enough food/drink to satisfy you

No one dresses up for the clubs, so leave your going out clothes at home

Bring lots of entertainment for the 18 hour coach journey

I’m talking DVDs, laptops, speakers, food, and a (secret) stash of alcohol.

Lastly, on a sensible note, remember to bring sun cream and lip salve to protect yourself from the Spring sun
