Review: Lou Lou’s Bristol Vintage Fair

Lucia Powell was impressed by the Vintage Fair

This weekend The Passenger Shed underwent yet another fashionable transformation thanks to Lou Lou’s Vintage Fair, which saw everyone’s least favourite exam venue blossom into a haven for retro enthusiasts.

For a mere £2, shoppers were granted entry to the fair for the whole day – and it was easy to spend that amount of time perusing rail after rail of vintage gems.

Vintage paradise at The Passenger Shed

An excellent array of fashion and homeware was on offer, and all the stock was displayed in a neat, ordered manner that was a far cry from the chaos at the recent Vintage Kilo Sale.

Thankfully they’d heard of hangers at Lou Lou’s

The independent traders couldn’t have been more helpful, and prices were very student-friendly. Furthermore, stock was continually renewed throughout the day, meaning the earlybirds didn’t nab all the good stuff.

We loved these customised vintage Levi’s shorts, which you could snap up for a tenner

If all that shopping got too tiring, fairgoers could treat themselves at the vintage tea party or indulge in some pampering at the pop-up beauty salon.

Overall, Lou Lou’s Vintage fair was a great day out, and it’s easy to see why it was voted best vintage fair in the UK. The quality of the clothes and the convenient layout made for an enjoyable, stress-free shopping experience. Even if you came away empty-handed, it was a good opportunity to get some style inspiration, whether from the quirky clothes themselves or the fabulously dressed fellow shoppers…

Tash, 21, picked up this opulent floorlength kimono at the fair last year

Admirers of Jason’s fur coat would find no shortage of similar styles at the fair

Likewise chic fur stoles, like 19-year-old Alice’s, abounded. We also loved her sparkly silver jelly shoes!

Lou Lou’s is expected to return to Bristol in May, so keep an eye on their Facebook page if you missed it this time around.
